The Timmerman Land & Cattle LLC is a third generation ranching operation that can be traced back to 1945. Leo Timmerman founded Timmerman & Sons Feeding Company who started the family tradition. Beginning in the early 1960s Leo's sons, Gerald, James, Norman and Ronnie, had plans to expand into ranching. In the mid-1970s the sons purchased their first ranch in the South Dakota Sandhills and grew their ranching business into five states and are still going strong today.

The Timmerman family implements the protection of land, water and wildlife, which will ensure conservation for future generations. With this philosophy on protecting the environment, it makes our ranches an ideal place to hunt for world class wild game.

The Saults Ranch features over 16,000 acres and will be all yours with no other hunters on the ranch. A beautiful property of rolling grasslands located in the heart of the Sandhills of Nebraska. With the Snake River running through the northern section of the property, whitetail and mule deer are attracted to come down from the big hills. Along the Northside of the river features a stretch of timber. This is a deer’s playground as far as the eye can see! In October and November, the deer are constantly found throughout the meadows.

The size of mule deer on the property is consistently monitored as we believe it is important to maintain a successful growth rate and healthy future population. The ranch is home to many big deer, the opportunities are endless!

There is a fully furnished bunkhouse on the property that sleeps seven people. Hyannis, NE is 42 miles away and has a gas station, grocery store and other amenities. There is no reliable cell service or wifi on the property, however, it can be found periodically.

We look forward to having your hunting party at our ranch!

Sincerely,
The Timmerman Family

The ranch was great. The bunkhouse was more than we expected. It really was a great place to stay. The ranch is beautiful and the ranch manager on site was very informative and helpful. Very easy to deal with. Every time I had a question for the owner it was always a quick reply.

Birding at Saults Ranch was one of the best birding experiences I've ever had! I spent two days on the ranch, where I originally planned on scoping out the large property for hot spots where we might find the most birds, and the second day actually birding. However, I found that on both days there were so many birds to see throughout the ranch, even without it being peak migration season. Some of the highlights of my birding trip include resident Great Horned Owls, Swainson's Hawks, Loggerhead Shrikes, Upland Sandpiper, Glossy/White-faced Ibis, and Lark Buntings! If you are visiting the property just for birding, I would recommend walking along the dirt road that leads up to the ranch and to the edge of the property. The lines of trees are filled with birds, and towards the end of the property is a marsh full of shorebirds and waterfowl. Amy was an absolute pleasure to communicate with, and was very accommodating for this trip! She made sure that we had all the information that we needed before our trip to Saults Ranch, and was available at any point to answer questions we had. Additionally, the workers at the ranch were friendly, and we felt very welcomed throughout our visit.
