Spring Valley Ranch
Positioned in Northeast Montana, this family owned farm/ranch offers some of the best upland bird, pheasant, antelope and coyote hunting in the West. Our property offers many tree rows, old homesteads, and well-sheltered range areas for the abundant huns, sharp-tail and pheasants.
Located on one of the properties is a fishing pond that is loaded with fun to catch northern pike. Perfect for kayaking around, it also offers some great opportunities for observing many of Montana's birds and other wildlife.
Spring Valley Ranch is located on the Fort Peck Reservations and hunters are NOT required to purchase a Montana license, but rather licenses online or over the counter through the Fort Peck Tribes Fish & Game. Licenses for upland bird, pheasant, fishing, and coyotes are available every year for both out-of-state and Montana residents, but antelope is a lottery draw.

5.0First off, let me say that Kevin is an absolute gem of a host! He was attentive and responsive and assisted me in both finding birds and in finding great places to camp. I have no doubt he will go to great lengths to assist anyone who comes to hunt Spring Vally Ranch, and you will always find him friendly and happy to text or call with information and updates. Due to a massive hail storm that apparently hit the area this past spring/summer, pheasant numbers weren't as high as usual, but there were plenty of opportunities to be had, especially for hunters with closer working flushing dogs who enjoy hunting tight cover around old homesteads and shelter belts. As a guy who has big running pointers and likes to hike the prairie most of the day, there was a lot of land, but the cover/grass was sparse in most areas due to dry conditions the past few months. Overall, I think Spring Vally Ranch holds lots of potential for upland bird hunting with proper habitat management and better climate/weather conditions leading into the season. I will be checking in with Kevin for possible future hunts there! Something I especially loved about hunting Spring Vally Ranch was the opportunity for wild camping out on the prairie. I have a self-contained, truck camper/overlanding-style rig and Kevin helped me find lots of cool places to setup. Beautiful sunsets and waking up to clucking sharptail grouse isn't bad!

Could not ask anything more from Kevin as a host. From recommendations for hotel/restaurants in town, to pointing me to the right areas to make the most of the hunt. Kevin was very responsive ahead the trip, and made sure to check in while I was on the ranch. Had a chance to meet his family who were also very welcoming. Great experience! Looking forward to returning next season.
Reviewed by Guest on October 2023 Kevin couldn’t have been nicer. He has the birds and was very generous with his time and information as to where to find them. We had a wonderful time and hope to return.

We enjoyed working with Kevin. He was super helpful and answered all of our questions. The property was great and he pointed us in the direction we were looking for birds. We will be back!
