Whitetail Huntat Harju Acres
The acreage features dense forest, which provides a great source of cover of Michigan whitetails. Our mature oaks are key to providing forage for deer and turkeys, once called by a wildlife biologist who visited the property, “some of the best forage that [he has] seen.”
Please take a look at a report on Deer Management that was done for my property:
"Deer sightings and an abundance of deer sign were present. I lost tract of the number of deer that were observed during the field work. This is excellent habitat for the whitetail deer due to the proximity of farm fields and the resulting forage. More importantly are the number of mature red oak and the abundance of acorns they were producing on your property."
"In a typical winter deer will migrate from your property north to the Middle Branch Deer Yard. Biologists now call these a Winter Deer Complex (WDC)."
"Those deer move south to north in the late fall and north to south in the sprng. Usually they use the same trails in both migrations. This property is on the southern tip of this Middle Branch WDC."
Of interest for deer hunters is a dug seep. This is located on the property's higher ground with no apparent inlet or outlet. The snow-covered area appears to have been excavated. You can see where rocks were dug out and placed on the perimeter. The seep is being used extensively by deer, turkey, and other wildlife.
This is a great spot for whitetail hunters looking for a solid property. We are open to non-intrusive/mobile tree stands and popup blinds if hunters want to bring some out.

This forest was originally purchased by my great aunt Lillian Hanson to provide a woodlot for the dairy and farmhouse across Harju Road. Back then the trees would have been pulled out with draft horses. Since becoming owner of the land about 1995, I have planted 5,000 Norway Spruce and carefully managed and thinned the forest directed by professional foresters.
My interests include tree farming, wildlife, walking, music and new technology in solar and heatpumps. Wouldn't it be great to build a solar cabin on the property!
I hope you enjoy the quiet and some of cleanest air in the nation. The locals are characters and they will help you with anything that comes up!
