“WHITETAIL HEAVEN” at Maple 🍁 Creek Canyon is 123 acres of remote woodlands and meadows surrounded by crop-land and secluded by the rugged terrain of Maple 🍁 Creek Canyon.

This plentiful area has been filled with Whitetail this year.

We have been watching at least 7 distinctively handsome bucks grow their antlers and propagate in private seclusion.

Only an hour from Omaha, Lincoln, or Norfolk, Nebraska, Paul & Valerie at Maple Creek Canyon welcome you to escape the storm city and get lost in dramatic private prairie lands, secluded woodlands, and deep canyons that are rare to find in agriculturally-developed eastern rural Nebraska.

This price is per hunter per day for up to two 4 hunters for up to 7 days.

Additional guests and additional nights are available upon request.

The package price offers the option for an opportunity to stay onsite at Maple Creek Canyon either in:

the Guest House,
on a 40 foot concrete RV pad with electrical hookup, or
tent Camping

so you can eat, sleep, & hunt without ever having to leave Maple 🍁 Creek Canyon.

You supply your own RV or tents.

The Guest House features 2 bedrooms (one queen & one full size), a large sectional sofa comfortable for sleeping, a recliner, dining room, 3-bathrooms, a full kitchen, furnished with appliances, tableware and cookware to prepare their own favorite meals. Food can be purchased at a large grocery stote only 15 minutes from Maple Creek Canyon.

Food: Agriculture and Food Plots

The secluded Maple Creek Canyon wilderness is isolated from county roads by fields of corn and soybeans, where wildlife can feed at daybreak and before sunset, returning to cover for bedding down. For natural forage, there are two completely different ecosystems: 1. one on top of the canyon rim, and 2. another down in the canyon. Of course the woodlands, the wetland, and the creek itself, each offer unique food sources as well. The balance of nature is evident also among all creatures at Maple Creek Canyon: insects, reptiles, fish, small animals, and birds. Hawks, Eagles, and other predatory birds soar the sky scouting the ground below. Every night we hear packs of coyotes boasting their victory chorus when they make a kill, creating a vacancy for new families of the same species to move in....

Water: Lakes and Ponds

Most of Colfax County’s springs and creeks converge, and flow through Maple Creek Canyon. So the wildlife at Maple Creek Canyon never runs out of fresh water. There is also a soggy bottom marsh near Beaver Bend at Maple Creek Canyon. Even the massive lawn at Maple Creek Canyon Headquarters is extensively watered and manicured throughout the long hot summers, attracting aerial acrobatic shows by hundreds of barn swallows and other bird species, swooping across the landscape, controlling the mosquito population....

Shelter: Mountains, Woods, River Bottoms and Brush

Except for access trails and foot trails, the entirety of Maple Creek Canyon is a jungle of overgrown cover for wildlife. Deer beds and deer trails line miles of the upper rim above the canyon walls. The dense secluded woodland beckons wild turkeys to bed down in the branches of ancient trees. And piles of deadwood offer shelter, food, and protection for smaller animals. Maple Creek Canyon is covered with millions of trees and meadows of native Nebraska prairie grasses. Milkweed Pods proliferate the grasslands which attract Monarch and various species of Butterflies, creating a scent that protects them from predators....

While visiting Maple Creek Canyon I saw signs of deer everywhere. Scrapes, rubs, beaten paths, were scattered all over the property. The Maple Creek running through the middle of the property offers a great source of water during the drought we are experiencing.
